The 2012 MMS Spring Band Concert is here!!

The 2012 MMS Spring Band Concert is just around the corner.  Our students have spent the past 5 months busily preparing music to perform for you.  All family, friends, teachers, brothers, sisters, and relatives are invited for this evening of performances.  Here’s the information you need to know!

 Who: 6th, 7th,8th Grade Bands and Jazz Ensemble

When:  Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 @ 7:00 PM

Where: Maplewood Middle School Auditorium

Concert Dress:  White shirt or blouse, Black Pants or Skirt, Black shoes and socks.  (No Jeans or Sneakers!!!)

Arrival Time:  All band students must be at MMS no later than 6:30 PM!!

The Bands of MMS look forward to seeing you on May 23rd!!

Summer Music Academy

Summer Music Academy  (sponsored by SOM School District Fine Arts Dept & SOM Adult School)

 June 25 – July 20     9am – 12n    $425.00
Open to all band and orchestra students entering grades 5 through 8 for the 2012-2013 school year.
Wow, what a great opportunity for your child to learn to play an instrument or advance in her/his studies for a reasonable fee.
This program will feature:
  • Intensive one hour individual or small-group lessons taught by professional music educators and specialists in their fields with mentoring by Columbia High School honors band and orchestra students|
  • One hour large group ensembles at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels
  • Gala concert performance at the end of the camp
The academy will run June 25-July 20, 2012 (no classes on July 4th)

SEPAC Organizational Meeting Tonight

All school districts in New Jersey are required to have a Special Education Advisory Committee (SEPAC).  SEPACs provide parents  with the opportunity to give input on their district’s special education policies and programs.  Parents will be holding an organizational meeting for the South Orange Maplewood SEPAC this evening.
